“Leap of Faith”
07/30/2009 I had opened a forwarded email from a fellow Biker poet, author and editor informing me that, about a week
and a half prior, he had received an email from a third party who had requested usage of a piece, (Kin in the Wind), that I had submitted for an anthology of Biker poetry. It always warms my far to often skeptical heart whenever anyone actually does the decent thing by asking permission to re-publish my work rather than just pirate it, but, such is the toll one pays upon the internet highway
I have always been a devout believer in ‘things’ happening for a reason, as such, I decided to complete the circle of good Karma and return the respect afforded me by personally responding to this honest individual. Unknowingly, that gesture, that day proved to be a life changing experience for me. One might even say, it happened all in a 'Flash'...Enter Beverly V Roberts
If I were to include a chapter on the forging of friendship, of righteousness, a bond born of respect, that these essential elements, we who ride adhere to, are indeed alive and well, Beverly's name would punctuate each and every sentence. A true legacy, Beverly continues today what her father, a no frills, straight up Biker, began well over forty years ago
During the 1960's, using a Graflex camera, Jim "Flash" Miteff quintessentially captured with eloquent grit, a raw, unencumbered look within the heart and soul of the American Biker. Now, over four decades later, never before seen photographs are available thanks to the love, loyalty and dedication of a daughter who continues to bestow an insight inherited from a man whose vision was ahead of his time
Beverly and her husband Tom, are owner / publishers of Flash Productions, LLC and were it not for their belief in my work, their 'Leap of Faith', this, my book, would not have become a reality. Fate and destiny will determine where this endeavor, this journey of mine will lead to. If Beverly and Tom are any indication as to those I‘ll meet along the way, well, it's going to be one hell of a ride upon the Asphalt Range
